THE WAR NEWS. BOMBARDMENT OF BRAILOV. THE EASTERN~QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT. BOMBAY, May 4. Khan Machroun Pasha, with several ironclads, engaged the Russian batteries at Brailov, bombarded the town, and then withdrew. Gladstone is to move in the House of Commons that the Government should continue its exertions on behalf of the Christian subjects of Turkey, and exact changes in the Porte's treatment of them. The leaders of the Liberal party disapprove of the proposed action of Gladstone, and will move the previous question. The Conservatives will submit a motion supporting the Government policy. SYDNEY, May 4. Ihe Government have given permission to the contractors of the Pacific Mail Company to continue the service as sanctioned in January last. A decision is promised as to proposed modifications.
