EXPECTED ARRIVALS.
Jane Douglas, s.s., from Auckland and Gisborne Pretty Jane, b.s., from Auckland via Poverty Bay Rangatira, s.s., from Wellington Kiwi, 8.5., from Wellington Fiery Cross, schooner, from Onehunga Southern Cross, s.s., from Poverty Bay. Mary Wadley, schooner, from Nelson. Falcon, barquentine, from Newcastle Silver Cloud, three-masted schooner, from Newcastle Ferngleu, ship, from London Chaudiere, ship, from Nelson and London Thb s.s Wanaka brought up in the Bay at 6 a.m on the 17th inst, and left again at 5 p.m. She took for Timaru 4 pure-bred Berkshire pigs of Mr Canning's breed The s.s (Jo-Ahead arrived here from Auckland at 4 a.m on the 16th. She left Auckland on Friday at 10 a.m., with a strong easterly gale. She anchored in Cabbage Bay at 9 p.m, and left again at 3 p.m ; anchored in Mayor Strait on Bnnday,at' 3 p.m, left again on Tuesday at 2 p.m for Tauranga, where she arrived at 6 p.m. Left Taurangaon Wednesday at 6 p.m, and arrived at Poverty Bay on Friday at 7 a.m ; experienced a strong south-easterly gale throughout. The s.s Star of the South left Auckland at 7 p.m on the 13th, with fine weather, which continued to the morning of the 14th, when a strong south-east wind sprang up, and a heavy sea. This continued up to the evening of the 15fch, upon which date she rounded the East Cape. Prom this time up to her arrival in the Bay at 5 p.m the weather continued fine. She passed on the 16th the s.s Pretty Jane off White Island, and the Mission vessel Southern Cross off Cape Runaway The Auckland Steam Packet Company seem to believe in giving the captains in their service a continual change of vessels. Capt. Holmes, who brought down the Go-Ahead from Auckland, took the Southern Cross back to Poverty Bay, while Captain Helander, who had the Cross, is now Captain of the Go-Ahead. And, we hear, that as soon as the steamers Pretty Jane and Go-Ahead meet, Captain Helander will make an exchange of vessels with Captain Cooper The p s Manaia reports the Wairoa bar to be in a very unpromising state ; she had to lay outside, upon her last trip, for 12 hours, unable to take the bar.
