RAILWAY STATION ACCOMMODATION.
Sir,— Do you think it at all likely, Mr Editor, tka'fc if our railways were not ir« the hands of the Government, the accommodation at the Napier station would be so wretched ?If you do, I don't. Where else, in what other civilised place, would the, extent of sitting accommodation be limited to one solitary chair ? I suppose this is what the " department " terms economy. Economy indeed! Why, it is a burlesque upon the word. At all events, allowing that chairs are expensive luxuries, or that being portable they are liable to be annexed by some needy fellow about to set up houselteephlg.sureiy a few boards might be nailed together for the convenience of those who have to wait for the starting of the train. lam not unreasonable, I don't look to get sofa lounging accommodation, I am content so that I can rest my weary boots without having to squat, a la Maorij on the gravel. —I am, &c, ferKcnViEß.
