Homewards —Voyage 1876—-June 10, 7 days 19 hour 348 minutes j July 11, 7 dayß 22 hours 31 minutes ; September 12, 7 days 22 hours 55 minutes ; October 13, 7 days 16 hours 23 minutes; average, 7 days 20 hours 25 minutes. On the four outward trips the Brittanic ran a distance of 11,216 nautical miles, being an overage of 2804 per trip, which gives a speed of a little over 15 knots per hour, or 360 knots per diem. Homewards, she steamed 11,549 nautical miles, or 2887 per trip, equal to 15*32 knots per hour, or 367*68 per diem. These consecutive performances are worthy of record, as they stand unrivalled in the annals of ocean steam navigation." It is proposed to start another •whaling venture in Auckland, the projectors, says aa Auckland contemporary, being Mr. J. Macfarlane and Mr. Ford, It is intended to start an association with a capital of £10,000.
