OTAGO.
Dunedin, December 14. Mr. Yogel again spoke last evening. In compliance with a general requisition, the meeting was adjourned from the Masonic hall to the terrace in front of the Government buildings — the crowd being too large for the hall to contain. The hon. geutleman referred, in his speech, to the relative merits of the Californian and Suez mail services, to the telegram question, and to the Immigration and Public Works policy. His speech contained little that is new. He confirmed the statement made by the Evening Star, last Friday, that the Independent obtained its telegrams from the Star, which sent the Daily Times extra to the Independent, at the request of the latter. A resolution, that the meeting pledged itself to the support of no candidate opposed to the policy enunciated by Mr. Yogel, was lost ; and, in lieu thereof, a resolution carried, — That the questions discussed are so intricate and of so important a character that it is desirable time should be allowed for their consideration before any decided opinion could be expressed.
