AUCKLAND.
[via tatjranga.] Moiwat, Dec. 12, I take advantage of tbe departure of the Luna for Tauranga, with H.R.K. the Duke of Edinburgh onboard, to congratulate you on the opening of the telegraph between Napier and Tauranga. Respecting the rumours that cases of cholera had occurred in this city, the evidence of medical men shews that do case of Asiatic cholera has occurred. Waikalo natives report that the king natives are quiet but armed. Moananui and Te Hira are quarrelling with their followers, and un armed fight is imminent. The ship Timaru, arrived from London, came across, 1600 miles from the Cape of Good Hope, and the same distance from Sfc Helena, the burning wreck of the ship Matador. No signs of crew or passengers were to be seen. The City of Auckland, ship, from London, also arrived after a rapid passage. She brought 120 passengers, including fire Wesleyan ministers. The Prince leaves to day for Tauranga, en route for Rotomabana. -■ /The Governor and suite accompany him. Herr Bandmann gave a reading on Saturday night, under the ftatronage of the Prince. The Napier, steamer, made a successful trial trip. ,
