The English Telegrams via San Francisco had not arrived up to the time of closing the Telegraph office, last evening. Bhead and Butter Ball. — We understand that it is the intention of the officers iind members of the Napier Rifle Volunteers to give a ball on the night of Monday, the 26th insfc. (Boxing day), in the Oddfellow's Hall. We have no doubt jit will be well attended, and that a very pleasant evening will be spent. The Meanee Bridge has, since Tuesday morning, been undergoing the process of -e-plankfng ,• and the work will be completed this morning. Mr. Orr, the con;ractor, has so managed that traffic has not it any time been suspended for any inconrenienfly long period. The bridge will now >c much more secure than it was. We nay mention also that the Awatoto and vleanee roads have been put in very good :ondition by Mr. Layard, the contractor.
