Life Assukakcb. — In spite of the efforts of the Government to popularise life assurance, our community still remains apathetic and indifferent. Men daily and hourly make their exit to " That bourne from which no traveller returns," and their families linger after them, without any resources wherewithal to secure the independence of even a day's existence. How little a man thinks of the uucertainty of life ! How little he realises what may be the condition of those dear to him, if he should be suddenly called away. A spirit of manly independence and a high tone of self respect would prevent the suggestion that his family would be reduced to a reliance upon public charity. Yet how little does it concern him to make a provision which will avert such a calamity. Life assurance he has no doubt heard of, but has he taken the trouble to investigate and avail himself of the beneficence of its operations. — Independent.
