Watcrhouse, and unanimously agreed to. . . . ;; A special telegram from London states tbat:the Commissioners have succeeded in obtaining the Imperial guarantee to a loan of one million sterling for immigration and ■* public works, oir certain conditions, •:' At the Supreme Court, to-day, all the prisoners convicted at last criminal sittings were again brought up, when the Judge said that doubts had arisen regarding the legality of the last-sittings, owing to their having been commenced on Whitsunday, a court* holiday. He accordingly ordered the prisoners back to gaol, to await the de-r-ision of the Court of Appeal on the point raised. ; To-day the Governor presented Majors Kemp, Ropata, and Morgan, with swords of honour sent out >by the Queen. The swords are splendidly mounted, and bear the inscription, "Given by Queen Victoria to — for his unfailing loyalty and valour. May you long wear it in health and honour.". Similar tokens of honour are to be given to Topia and other chiefs. Mr. Reynolds is going to move the abolition of the provinces, with a separate legislature for each Island —the General Assembly to be restricted to legislation on matters purely federal.
