Airedale. It will leave Auckland on the 4th of May,^ by the' s.s. City of Melbourne. The Weather continued showery, with occasional heavy falls of rain, from Wednesday last till yesterday morning, making the rivers pretty full and reducing some of the roads to a frightful condition. -The rainfall, as recorded iv Napier during«,the last' 'five days, was close upon three inches, but it is supposed that much more fell up the country, the rain having been more continuous there. Resident Magistrates' Court. — -During the last few days no cases have been brought before the Resident Magistrate's Court. Great inconvenience arises from the want of a Resident Magistrate, owing to the jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace being limited to £20. A number of cases above the £20 jurisdiction have necessarily been adjourned, pending the decision of the Government regarding Captain Curling, and we have been informed these cases are daily accumulating, and suitors justly complain of the delay. Waipawa Sabbath School. — In consequence of the rains which have fallen during the last few days, thereby causing a slight fresh in the rivers, the children attending the above school were prevented | from enjoying a treat that has been for some weeks past in contemplation, and intended to have taken place on Friday last (Good Friday), in the paddocks of John Harding, Esq., Woodlands. The disappointment was, however, obviated in a great measure, through the united efforts of Messrs. Collins, Phillips, and Cowper, who formed a .committee, and, assisted by the townsfolk, procured a large supply of buns, cakes, lollies, &c. The children repaired to the paddocks of E. Collins, Esq., to enjoy themselves, and after dark adjourned, with their : teachers, to Good-fellows' Hall, when after a few Sunday School hymus weresung, the party broke up. — From a Correspondent.
