Mb. and Mrs. George Dabrell, the latter better known as Mrs. Heir, are announced by placard as about to pay a visit to Napier. The West Chve School-boom, a tasteful erection just completed, will be formally opened on the evening of Friday next. The chair is to be taken by Joseph Rhodes, Esq., and, after the business of eating and drinking, a pleasant meeting may be expected. It is supposed that a large number of persons will be present, the occasion being justly regarded as one of considerable interest. New Insolvent. — John Livingstone, of Kaikora, has declared his inability to meet his engagements with his creditors. Bank Holidays. — The Banks will be closed on Friday and Monday next, being Good Friday and Easter Monday. Cricket. —We learn that a cricket mateh — eleven town against eleven country — will come off at Meanee on Monday next (Easter Monday), when it is expected that the brass baud will be in attendance. Dr. Hitchings. — We are glad to see that this gentleman, who has been so long confined to his house from the effects of a severe accident, is so far recovered as ,to be able to go through his usual routine of duty. Messrs. Stuart and Co. will sell, at Meanee, on Thursday next, a number of cattle. Total Abstinence Society. — A meeting of the Total Abstinence Society is convened for this evening, for the purpose of electing office-bearers, &c. Mr. Lyndon will sell, this day, fruit, wheat, and potatoes. The Bishop proposes to hold Divine Service on Sunday next, as follows : — Havelock, at 11 a.m., with administration of Lord's Supper ; and at West Clive (in the new School room) at 3 p.m. Hot and Sultby Weather has lately prevailed. Rain is much wanted. It has threatened more than once, but nothing resulted beyond a slight shower. Our Telegraphic Intelligence, this morning, will be found to be varied and interesting. Township op GisnoitNE, Poverty Bay. — We remind all interested that the sale of the above township will commence at the Crown Lands Office, Nnpie»\ at 11 a.m. tomorrow. A number of intending purchasers arrived on Saturday and Sunday by the s.s. Rangatira and schooner Colonist. Colonial Prize Firing. — Messrs. H. Renouf and A. 11. Blake (N.R.V.), and R. Williams (No. 3 Com. Militia), the representatives for this Province in the Colonial Prize Firing which takes place at Dunedin on the 30th of the present month, took their departure south on Sunday, by the s.s. Wellington.
