The schooner Murewai may now be looked for, having left Poverty Bay for this port on the 14th instant. The Colonial Government gunboat Sturt left this port yesterday at 1 p.m. for Opotiki, Tho s.B. Star of the South from Auckland will return to that part on Saturday next with a cargo of stock. The ship Helenslee clearod at the customs, Auokland, on the llth inst, with gum, flax, wool, and other produce, to tho valuo of £50,302 4s 2d.
description. Choice cows, near calving, were in muoh request, "We quote dairy cows from £12 2s 6d to £14. Calves, from £2 17s to £3. Yearlings, from £i to M 17s 6d. Two. and three year old steers from £G 10s. to £9 * 2s 6d each. Sheep.— Our yards are very poorly supplied, but the quality, of those yarded was very good, and the prices obtained gave, great satisfaction. Fat sheep, were. up. fully 2s or 3s per head over late selling prices. Best quality sold from 16s to 21s ; second ditto, 13s Cd to 14s 9d. Merinos, from 5s 9d to 9s each. Pigs were scarce and in much request.
