The s.s. Rangatira left Wellington for Napier on Wednesday, the 20th instant, at 7.45 p.m. Experienced strong N.W. winds on the passage, and brought up in the roadstead at 10 o'olook on Thursday night. The next day, discharged part of her cargo into tho lighter Greenwich, and entered the Iron Pot at 5 p.m., in order to discharge the remainder of her Napier cargo, and to take in live stook for the Auckland market, for whioh port, via Tauranga, she steamed on Saturday last, with a general oargo. The fine dipper barque William Cargill, Thompson, master, arrived at Gravesend on the 2nd of August, after a fine passage of 91 days. 1 We are glad to inform the publio that the favorite s.s. Lord Ashley may be expeoted back on this coast shortly, her present post being taken by the powerful s.s. Phoebe, which will leave Sydney on the Ist proximo, after having undergone a complete and thorough overhaul. These favorite Bteamere belong to the Circular Saw Company, Auckland, and Messrs. Routledge, Kennedy, and Co., are agents at this port. The retention of the agenoy to this line of fast steamers ia owing, no doubt, to the urbanity of that firm, and the smart manner in whioh the vessels are despatched. The Why Not, outter, lately purchased in Wellington by Mr. B. Warnes, for the lightering trade of this port, may be shortly expected. The Tararua, from Melbourne, arrived at the Bluff yesterday. The Wellington left Lyttelton for Welling, ton yesterday at 6 p.m. The J. N. Fleming, ship, from Glasgow, arrived at Fort Chalmers on Sunday at 3 p.m.
