LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,— lt seems to me that there is and. has been a great deal of talk going, on with regard to our Hawke's Bay Gold, Mining Co., but very little action, anil that, while we are talking and doing com: paratively littlo towards the accomplishment of the object in view, others are positively setting off at once to. prospect the ranges. What is to prevent the immediate enrolment and employment of a body of prospectors for our company ? There are many men— some of whom are experienced diggers — who would be perfectly willing and ready to set about prospecting at once. I consider that delay in this case is not only unadvisable but is absolutely, detrimental to the welfare ofthe company.' Wo really must not let the grass grow; j under our feet. I presume that those \v;ho are on the ground first will have the first' pick, which, I believe, in nine times out' often, proves also the best. ; : There is nothing, in my opinion, like I immediate action in these matters, and/ if prospecting parties haye already gone out from Wanganui, why should, we not^ at once take the hint ahd : be off. I trhst our directors will not be discussing ana^ j squabbling amongst each other asito'miit- ! ters of mere form, but will tunr their at-' tention at once to the advisability 1 of haying our . company represented by a prospecting party at* the Kaimanawa at once. Let us at once take up our stand there ; if .we cannot be first, letihs, at any rate, be second.-rl am, &c, ,< : .Ay x ' A Shabbholder,
