j Transfer of License. — Yesterday, the license ofthe Star Inn (now the Clarendon) was transferred from Mt. McNalty to Mr. William Britten. ! Time Table. — In another column will be found the time table for the New Zealand mail services, for the month of October. Napier is not once mentioned in this document, it being apparently struck out ! of the lists of porta which subsidized steamers are to visit. Prospecting. — On Wednesday last Mr. Baldwin and party, consisting of several experienced Europeans and a native thoroughly conversant with the locality, started on a prospecting tour. Their destination is believed to be the Ngaruroro Gorge and Patea. Routledge, Kennedy, and Co. will sell tomorrow (Saturday) in front of the Masonic Hotel, the race horses Abbess and Discretion. Concert. — An announcement is made elsewhere that the vocal and instrumental concert in aid of the Atheumura, which has been for some time in course of preparation, will be given on the evening of Thursday next, the 23rd inst. We are informed that the chief musical talent of Napier has been enlisted in this laudable attempt to better the position of a most useful institution in such a way as, at the same time, to afford amusement ,of a high order to the public generally. We also learn that the programme will be an attractive one ; and feel assured that, whether on public grounds or for mere personal gratification, the projected concert will be well attended and supported.
