A Whiter in the Melbourne Leader contradicts the rumour that H^B.H. Prince Alfred quarrelled with the Earl of Bolmore because the latter declined* to invite the Misses Carandhu to Government House, or for any other reason. He says —As a matter of fact these accomplished young ladies were his Excellency's guests on one evening during the Prince's stay on the invitation of the latter. H.E.H. expressed a msh. that they should be invited on another, occassion, and tho. Earl of Bolniore declined, for no otHer roason than that his list; of guests was already complete. Therd was no quarrell, and the -assfcrfced absence of his Excellency at the embarkation of the Queen's son could not have boenin con* sequence of any personal coolness, for. this sufficient reason; that' his ExceJWenpy-vp§» present when Prince Alfred sailed*
