WAIPUKURAU. March 29. The Prize Firing on Saturday was very bad; weather unfavorable. Highest scorersHamilton and Nicholson, 23 points. WELLINGTON. March 29. The Rangitoto, with the English mail on board, is due here early to-morrow, and the Wellington, for Napier, is detained until its arrival. Mr. Fitzherberfc has not arrived in the Rangitoto, and it is not known whether he is in Melbourne. His Excellency the Governor has received official intimation that the Duke of Edinburgh will arrive here on Tuesday, April 6tb, and can only remain in the colony five weeks. The programme intended to be recommended by the Governor will therefore have to be considerably curtailed. The Ruahine sails to-morrow, having on board 90 New Zealand and 40 Australian passengers. The Assembly is further prorogued to early in May. A special messenger arrived from the Front early this morning. Colonel Whitmore is understood to have forced his way through a large swamp to attack Titokowaru, who bad meanwhile cleared out, leaving some women behind, who were taken prisoners. All information from the Front is now strictly prohibited, so that for some time past we have been wholly dependent on the official despatches.
