Race Horses for Sale. — Messrs. Routledge, Kennedy, and Co. will sell, this day, on the race course, the two thorough-bred mares, Abbess and Discretion. Leicester Sheep. — We call attention to the important sale of Messrs. Ford and McHardy's flock of Leicester sheep, which is announced to take place on Monday next, at Pakowhai. Proposed Concert. — It is proposed by some of the charitably disposed of our community to get up a concert in aid of the widow and family of the late Joseph Robinson, the man who lost his life by drowning on Sunday last. The object is a most worthy one, and we hope the idea will be carried out to its fullest extent. Suixden Death. — John Foley, a private in the 2nd Batt. 18th Royal Irish, while out fishing on Thursday afternoon, between three and four o'clock, asked to be taken ashore, and died almost immediately after landing. As yet there has been no inquest held on the body, but his death is supposed to have resulted from sunstroke. New Melbourne Daily. — The first number of tho Daily Telegraph appeared in Melbourne on the Bth inst. It is the same size and the price as tho Age, and promises to become a very formidable competitor with that journal in tho struggle for popular support. It is printed on paper manufactured at the mills of Mr. Rainsden, of Melbourne. Its appearance and contents are very creditable.
