Sighted the Phoebe steaming southward on the 18th, at 1 p.m. On the 19th, the weather having moderated, weighed for Poverty Bay, and anchored there at 4 p.m. On the 20th, at 4 p.m., after embarking 240 East Coast natives, conveyed them to their respective homes— Hicks' Bay, Tuparoa, Wairoa, and Awanui— and returned to Poverty Bay on the 21st. at 2 p.m. Sight-d the Sturt, at 7 p.m., steaming into Tupuroa to land tho remainder of the native contingent; and anchored off Ttiranganui on the 22nd, at I '3o a.m. On Sunday, the 24th, steamed across the Bay to the Murewai, with Government officials, &c, and returned at 4 p.m. Left for Napier and Wairoa on the 27th, at 4 p.m., with the Hon. At daylight, there being too muoh sea to communicate with Wairoa, left for Napier, and arrived in tho roadstead at 9 a.m.; came inside the Iron Pot at 2 p.m. The St. Kilda leaves for Wellington as soon as the weather moderates. The cutter Agnes, Carbis, left Poverty Bay at 7 p.m. on 25th inst.; passed Portland Island at noon on 2flth, and arrived in tho roadstead at 7,30 p.m. ; experienced strong N.E. winds on the passage. Since last in this port, the Agnes has been trading on the coast, aud has made one trip to Auckland with wool, &c. The schooner Success, Trimmer, left Wellington on Monday, 18th inst., with strong N.W. breeze? arrived off Capo Palliser on 19th at 8 a.m. ; in consequence of wind increasing to a gale, hovo-to till 20th; made sail at 8 p.m. and stood for Wangab.au, where she arrived on 22nd j there being a heavy sea on, and not being able to land, stood off and on until 25th : sea having gone down, took on board 71 bales wool; left at 1 p.m. for Waimarama, and I arrived at noon on 26th ; shipped 66 bales wool, and left for Napier at 10 p.m. on 27th; arrived in the roadstead at 6a. m. on 28th; entered the Iron Pot and discharged wool. The schooners Kauri and Jubilee both left for Wellington with woo), &o . on Wednesday morning. It is probable that the Kauri will return to this port again in a few days. The s.B. Wellington, expected from Auckland on Monday, Ist pror., will leave for Wellington and Southern ports the wmo day.
