The Editor does not hold himself responsible for opinions expressed by correspondents. Sib,— How is it nothing is carried out respecting tho collecting of the school rate ? Eirst we hear of ono person being appointed and then another to collect it. Surely it must be time that some one did the work, however troublesome it may prove to be, and however onerous the duty in these hard times. It is to be hoped that, as scarce as money is.no one will begrudge it for such a beneficial purpose, more especially as it is_ but a temporary arrangement, a committee having been appointed last sitting of Council to draw up a comprehensive and workable Act. I observe that women are getting the management of our public schools, a fault very much complained of in the primary public schools in America.— l remain, &c, | Observer,
