RIFLE MATCH
Pbtanb v. Napier Riele Ciub.
A match between the above Clubs took place at the range of the Petane Eifle Club, Petane, on Thursday last, Sept. 17, resulting in the defeat, for the first time, of the Napier Rifle Club, by twenty-five points. The ranges were 300, 400, and 500 yards ; five shots at each range. On the whole the firing was good, the Petane competitors averaging 35, and Napier 31f points each. After the firing the competitors partook of an excellent dinner, provided by Mr, . Tillers. The Napier competitors, after passing a very agreeable day, arrived in town before seven o'clock. We are given to understand that another match is in contemplation, to take place at the range* of the Napier Eifle Club.
