THE Provincial Council having granted the sum of £50 with a view to the improvement of Rifle Practice in the Province, the Officer Commanding the Distriot bas awarded the sum of £15 (to whioh the Captain Commanding No. 6 has added £5), to be fired for at Waipukurau, at 10 o'olook a.m. on tho fourth Wednesday (28rd) September next, by Noa. 5, 6, 7, and 10 Companies of Militia, and the Waipawa Volunteers. The Rules for firing will be the same as issued from the Colonial Defence Office, dated 6th December, 1867. Any competitor found to have tampered with his rifle will be disqualified. The minimum pull tof trigger to be six pounds. Officers commanding and in charge of companies will be pleaßed to send a return of the number of men likely to compete, to MBj'or Lambert, with a view to a supply of ammunition being on the ground for each man.
