The Storm Bird, s.s., arrived from the Chatham Islands at 2 this morning. The following account has been furnished by ths Independent : — The account given by the fugitives o1 their escape ii so far incorrect that one ol the guard was killed by theth before leaving. His nfime was Hartnett. He made resistance, but was taken and immediately tomahawked. Three prisoners remained. They were averse to the rising and informed the guard that a surprise was intended ; but the intimation, through some unexplained reason, was not attended to. The three had to secrete themselves till after the departure of their countrymen.
