The Dowd OnpiTAirs. — We refer our readers to an advertisement elsewhere, acknowledging a few subscriptions received towards the support of this destitute family. This is a case which should strongly enlist the sympathies of the benevolent. Thames Gold Fields. —In another column will be found an account of the magnificent — almost unprecedented — yield from Hunt's claim on the Thames gold fields. Those accounts are creating great sensation throughout the colony generally. Trees have lately been planted by the Government on Marine parade. For several weeks back the prisoners have been engaged in digging holes and filling them with clay from the hill, preparatory to the work of planting. The space occupied by these trees has been fenced, to protect them against the ravages of cattle.
