TO CONTRACTORS. qpHE TELEGRAPH COMMISSIONER is X prepared to receive tenders for the supply and delivery of one thousand (1000) poles, more or less, for a line of Tolegraph to be constructed between Napier (commencing at the North Spit) and Wairoa, both in the Province of Hawke's Bay. The poles to be sawn from the heart of totara. The poles to be of the following length : — A few forty (40) feet long, twenty-four (24) I inches square at tho butt, and eight (8) in- I ches square at the top. A few thirty-five (35) feet long, eighteen (18) inches square at the butt, and eight (8) inches square at the top. A. few twenty-five (25) feet long, eight (8) inches square at the butt, and six (6) inches square at the top. The major portion to be twenty (20) feet long, eight (8) inches square at the butt, and six (6) inches square at the top. The poles to be sound, straight, and free from sap. N.B.— No poles will be accepted that contain the least sap. The poles to be delivered at points and distances hereafter to be indicated along the present bridle track from Napier to Wairoa. Tenders are to specify the price per pole as per sizes given. Each tender must be accompanied by a deposit of twenty-five pounds (£25) as a guarantee of good faith, whioh sum will be forfeited should any tenderer refuse to sign the contract in the event of his tender being aooepted. Each tender must include the names of two (2) sureties for approval, who are willing to become bond for the due performance of the contract in tbe event of the tender being accepted, and must be accompanied by a notification to that effect signed by the proposed sureties. Further information can be obtained at the office of the Provincial Engineer, Napier, and at the Telegraph Office, Wellington. , Tenders endorsed " Tenders for supply and delivery of telegraph poles between Napier and Wairoa," and addressed " The General Manager, Telegraph Department, Wellington," to be sent in not later than the Ist of July, 1868. j By order of the Telegraph Commissioner, C.
