The room was very fully attended, and every description finds ready buyers, and all the lower qualities experience the greatest advance. The first series of colonial wool sales commenced on February 27. Tho catalogue comprised 5741 bales, viz., Sydnoy, 037 bales ; Port Phillip, 677 balesAdelaide, 3443 bales; Cape, 083— total, 5741 bales The home trade was largely represented, and the' number of foreign buyers far exceeded the usually large attendance at this series ; the biddings were very spirited throughout, and prices showed an advance on those of tlie Novomber sales of ld per lb on Sydney; 2d per lb on Port Phillip (principally scoured) ; and ld to ljd per lb on Cape, whilst Ade. laides realised the same prices as m August last The arrivals up to date are as folloAVS :— New South . Wales and Queensland, 12,2*11 bales ; Victoria, 29,060 bales ; Tasmanian, 513 bales ; South Australia, 19,018 bales; West Australia, 788 bales; New Zealand, 970 bales; Cape of C4ood Hope; Eastern Province, 25.9?6 bales, Western Province, 6940— total, 100,056 bales "
