AS this Library has lately been largely increased, attendance will in future be given in the Schoolroom, adjoining the Church, on WEDNESDAY evening, at eight o'clock, as well as on MONDAY, from 3 to 4, as formerly, for the purpose of giving out books. John Curling, the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Napier, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a writ bearing date the twenty -fourth day of April, 1868, issued under the hand of His Honor the Superintendent, an election will be held for the return of one duly qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of the Province of Hawke's Bay for the said Electoral District, in lieu of the late Alexander Irvine, Esq , and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the Court-house, Napier, at noon on TUESDAY, the fifth day of May next, and qhafc the poll (if necessary) will be taken on THURSDAY, the seventh day of May next, and that I will declare the result at the close of the poll.
