AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
MR. ALFRED BUCKLANDS WEEKLY REPORT, AT the Haymarket, on Saturday last, hay brought 2s 9d to 3s 6d per cwt. In horse stock scarcely any business was transacted. At Otahuhu, on Tuesday, not many cattle were offered. There was a full supply of sheep ; for the merino ewes there was no competition ; the half-bred lambs met with a fair enquiry. The ewe lambs brought from 8s 6d to 9s 3d ; wether lambs, 8s 6d each ; long-woolled ewes (full mouthed) from 13a to 20s each.
At Remuera, on Thursday, young and store cattle were easier in price. Fat cattle were in short supply, and for best qualities higher rates ruled, but those of middling quality barely reached last week's rates. Sheep offered very plentifully, and prices of all descriptions are 25 per cent, lower than a fortnight since. Store merino wethers sold at 6s to 8a 6d ; long-woolled wethers, 11s 9il ; oged long-woolled ewes, 12s to 15s ; aged half-bred ewes, 9a 6d each. The fat sheep pens were all full ; prices were lower than last week about 2d each, making fully 5s per bead during the present month. Lambs also were in full supply, and equally low rates ruled. Store piga were iv moderate supply and in better enquiry.
