The Year of Grr«e 1868 does not, so far as Hawke's Bffi is concerned, open under very favojßtble auspices. Both classes^ indeed, see before them a melancholy prospect of short feed in ■winter — we might add, of " tight money " also. Nevertheless, we confess to great confidence in the energy of the settlers and the general elasticity of the province, and do not. look forward to the new year with such gloomy ideas as one might suppose from a perusal of those remarks. Like Mr. Micawber, we are hopeful that something will " turn up ;" at all cveuts, like Mark Tapley; we prefer taking the brightest view of our position.
