Sir, —May I trouble you with a few remarks relative to the concert which, took place on Thursday evening last, given by the members of the Philharmonic Society, in the Council Chamber. Some time back a great amount of correspondence appeared in your paper in consequence of a certain individual behaving iv a very offensive manner during the performance; and it was supposed such a thing would not occur again, steps having been, taken to prevent it. On Thursday evening I was present at the concert, and listened with great interest to the different pieces performed, which were rendered in a very creditable style. During the performance of the "Grand Trio," however, I, in common with others, was greatly annoyed by hearing conversation carried on in an audible tone —so loud, indeed, that it quite drew my attention from the music; and on looking round, as most of the audience did, I observed several persons chatting and laughing together. One of them I noticed particularly; as, from having seen him take his place with the rest of the performers, and afterwards come into the body of the hall, I presume he is a member; and I consider it both setting a bad example, and manifesting great ignorance, on the part of any one, especially a member, to make a noise during the performance of any piece, as it not only diverts the attention of the audience, but confuses the performers. I hope the committee of the Society will sco to this, and make an example of all members who do not know how to behave themselves. —l am, &c, Obdee. [We can personally testify to the gross misconduct of the parties referred to. —Ep.]
