Hawke's Bay Herald SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 1867. THE EAST COAST LANDS.

It is matter of great surprise that the question of the East Coast lands should still be in an unsettled state. Long ago, in referring to the East Coast Titles Investigation Act of last session, we mentioned that Capt. Biggs had been appointed to act for the Crown when the Investigation Court . commenced its duties, and expressed our belief that the sittiugs of such court would not be much longer delayed. Up to this time, nothing further has aeen heard of the matter ; no instructions to hold the Investigation Court imve yet been issued, so far as we can ascertain. The consequence of this inexplicable delay is that, clay by day, joufusion gets worse confounded. A little longer delay and the Government will wake up to find that the territory intended to be confiscated has passed
