Sold at the Heeald office, Napier 5 by Mr. F. H. Drower, Waipukurau; and by W. Rathbone and E. Bibby, Waipawa. OPINIONS OF THE PRESS. The Hawko's Bay Almanac for 1867, although somewhat more unpretending in its size and appearance than the Wellington Almanac, is, nevertheless, a perfect little gem iv its way. Like its elder brother it has advanced in size from the pamphlet form to a book of considerable dimensions, containing as it does, within a page or two, the same as the Wellington Almanac. Amongst its new features is a directory for both town and country, compiled with evident care and being more exact and complete than could be expected from the difficulty attend- . ing its compilation. It has also a narrative of events, extending over two years, in consequence of a hiatus, occasioned by its non-appearance for 1866. We notice among its miscellaneous contents the celebrated weather systems of Saxby and Pitzroy, and a vast fund of local and general information of value. In its advertising department it exhibits a display of great taste and skill, combined with an extent of resources in the way of ornamental printing, scarcely tobe expected in New Zealand. We congratulate ihe Hawko's Bay public on the appearance of such a work from a local establishment.— Hawke's Bay Times, We havo pleasure in acknowledging the receipt of the HawV.«'s Bay Almanac for 1867, from its spirited .editor ai.ii publisher, Mr. J. Wood. This is the seventh year of publication. Besides containing a blank diary, and the usual matter found in publications of the kind, the book before us has a special value in beinp; a reliable directory and guide to the province of Hawke's Bay. It contains a well written narrative ol events in the province during the years 1865 and 1866. The book is neatly got up— well printed and bound— and does credit to Mr.; Wood's establishment.— Southern Cross. The Hawke's Bay Almanac, a copy for 1867 ofhvhich has beeu received by us, is a very neatly got up and useful work of the kind. It contains much general useful information, and is well and neatly got up. Amongst other matter is a Hawke's Bay and Napier Directory, list of runholders &o. In addition to the usual information found in works of this na- : ; ture, is a carefully written history of the province, containing census returns and general information, . calculated to be of use to intending residents. The almanac is highly creditable to Mr. Wood, at whose ofiice, the Herald, it is printed and published,--ft. Z. Herald. . " " '
