Office of Militia and Volunteers, Napier, 29th April, 1865. BY virtue and in exercise of the authority in me vested, I, Charles Lambert, Major Commanding the Napier Regiment of Militia, Do hereby declare that the Porangahau Electoral District shall be a District for a Company to be numbered 10 ofthe Napier Regiment of Militia. No. 10 Company will compri c all those persons liable to serve as Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time being are within tbe Porangahau Electoral District. I, Charles Lambert, do hereby direct that all the men of the First and Second Classes of the Napier Regiment of Militia resident in the above District do parade in front of Lamb's Accommodation House, Porangahau, for the purpose of enrolment and exercise, on Thursday, the 18th proximo, at 12 o'clock noon, The training of No. 10 Company will take place two days in each month, two hours each day, at such places and hours as may be directed by the Commanding Officer. Conveyance of MailsSEALED TENDERS will be received at this office until SATURDAY, the 20th Mat, 1865, at 4 o'clock p.m., from persons desirous of CONTRACTING for the following MAIL SERVICE for the period of SIX MONTHS from lst July next. WEEKLY. 1 . Between Napier and Waipawa, in a two or four wheeled vehicle, drawn by not less than two horses. Lockers for the mail bags to be water-tight ami roomy. To start from the Chief Post Office, Napier, on TUESDAY, 4th July, at 7 o'clock a.m. and on every succeeding Tuesday at the same hour, and to arrive at Waipawa at 4 p.m, of the same day. The Contractor to be bound in a penalty that will enable the 1 Chief Postmaster, at any time that the i Contractor may fail in carrying out his Contract, to employ a substitute ; and that he is to Receive, Convey, and Deliver, as addressed, all such mails as may be delivered to him by any Postmaster at any Post Office on the line. The Contractor will be permitted to carry Passengers and Parcels, provided it does not in anyway interfere, with the mail service, The return mail to leave Waipawa on Friday, in every week, at 7 a.m., and to arrive at this Office at 4 p.m., of the same day. 2. Waipawa to Porangahau. To leave Waipawa every Tuesday, half-an-hour after the arrival of the mail from Napier, and to arrive at Waipukurau the same evening. Also to leave Te Waipukurau for Porangahau at 7 a.m., on every Wednesday morning, arriving at Porangahau at 3 p.m., on the same day. The return mail to start from Porangahau at 10 a.m., on every Thursday, and to reach Waipawa in the evening of tbe same day, 3. Clive to Pourerere. 4. Waipukurau to Gwavas (Carlyon's Station), calling at Grant's, Lambert's, and Duncan's out-stations, — and also at Hampden, and thence back to Waipawa, by Duncan's out-station ; to leave .Te Waipukurau at 8 a.m. on every Wednesday, and to arrive at Waipawa on the evening of every Thursday. 5. Napier to Puketapu, and to Waipuna. 6. Havelook to Maraekakaho and Kereru ; leaving Havelock on Tuesday, and returning thither with the return mail on Thursday evening. 7. Te Aute to Patangata ; leaving Te Aute with the mail from Napier on Tuesday afternoon, and returning with the mail from Patangata on Thursday evening, 8. Napier to Wairoa. FORTNIGHTLY. 9. Porangahau to Castle Point. 10. Wairoa to Turanga, Poverty Bay. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest Tender. Tenders to be endorsed " Tenders for the Conveyance of Mails."
