The Wellington Spectatob.— The statement made by our » Wellington Correspondent^ whose letter appeared in our " Extra" of yesterday,- wi th reference to the position of the Spectator, is thus contradicted in a paragraph which appears in that journal of the 16th inst ;--" In last; Thursday's Advertiser is a paragraph intendedipapply to the Spectator, in which it is stated— ' We ..- have heard from more than one reliable source that the oldest newspaperin the first and principal settlement of the New Zealand , Company will ■■$; soon be numbered amongst the things that were/ &c. We give the most unqualified contradiction : to the Advertiser's statement, which is utterly uhi y founded -—to those who lauwthe character of •■• that paper, this willbe nothing remarkable,'.'
