Local Intelligence.
Cttbious Legal Proceedings.— The proprietor of the Herald was yesterday served with a summons to appear at the Besidont Magistrate's Court, this forenoon, to answer the complaint b£ John Fleetwood, "who claims to recover from you the sum of £2 25., as damages for your refusing to insert a certain advertisement in the Hawke's Bay Herald, when requested by him to do so." The advertisement referred to, we may
observe, was a scurrilous poetical effusion, each verse concluding with the line " Barney Ferrers Oh ! " from which we inferred that Ferrers had so far forgotten himself aa to kick the fellow out of doors. But what the Besident Magistrate can Itave to do with it is more than we can possibly imagine. Sale op Stock.— We have been requested by Mr. Danvers to remind the public of the sale at Mr. Cheyne's, this day. For particulars see advertisement. Social Meeting. — We remind our readers that this is the night of the social meeting at the Presbyterian school-room. Thatcher's next entertainment, it will be seen, takes place on Friday evening, at the Spit.
