Commissariat, Napier, Bth May, 1862. nHENDERS will be received at this office until A Noon of Thuesday, the 22nd inst., from persons willing to Contract for furnishing the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities, at such times, and in such pices, within one mile of the Barracks at Napier, as may be required by the undersigned or his successor in office, during the period from Ist September, 1862, to 31st March, 1863, viz. :— FUEL AND LIGHT. Sperm Candles, English manufacture > . 1U Mould Candles j at per lb. Firewood, at per lOOlbs Coal, Australian, at per ton The Mould Candles are to be properly seasoned by being kept on hand by the Contractor for a suitable period after manufacture. The Firewood to be Tea Tree, or other hard wood, split and cut into lengths of 4 feet. The Contractor for supplying Firewood must have constantly on hand, in a place to be approved by the undersigned, or his successor in office, a stock sufficient for fourteen days' consumption, from which stock alone issues are to be made. The stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all Wood that is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by weight, according to the tender, must be delivered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor on delivery : 71 cubic feet being considered equivalent to a ton of 2240 lbs. The general conditions are the same as advertised in the Hawke's Bay Herald of the 30th November last, headed Annual Contracts.
