A PEOVINCIAIi GovEBNMENT GAZETTE, published yesterday, contains proclamation that the Moeangiangi and Arapawanui blocks will be open for selection after the 30th May ; notifications that H. Renauf 's tender (£53) for repairing the bridge across the Muddy Creek at Clive had been accepted, and .T. Thompson's tender (£74) rejected ; — that Mr. S. Locke has been appointed District Surveyor and Mr. A. Koch, Registrar of Meteorological tables ; and that the time for payments has been altered (see paragraph underneath). It also contains return of cattle slaughtered during March, and Abstract of Receipts and Expenditure for the first quarter of the year — the credit side of the latter having a most melancholy aspect in consequence of the territorial revenue for the whole quarter and the customs for February and March, having been impounded by the General Government. --. Government Payments. — The following notice appeared in a Gazette, published yesterday : — All salaries due from the Provincial Government of Hawke's Bay -will in future be payable at the Provincial Treasury on the sth of each month : Provided the proper vouchers are duly forwarded i to the Treasury on or before the second day of the month. And all other just and proper charges or i demands, (whether contingent expenses, or contracts, or advances on account of contracts), will be payable at the Treasury on and from the 10th day of each month until the 20th day of the same month : Provided always the vouchers properly supported shall have been duly sent in to the. Treasury on or before the 7th day of every! month; i As a rule, no monies (whether imprest warrants or otherwise) will henceforth be paid at the Treasury after the 20th day of the month. In those months in which Sunday falls on any day from the Ist to the sth of the month, salaries will not be payable before the 6th of the said month. Strict attention to this notice is requested, particularly from Government officers and contractors, as, (from the necessity of all accounts being henceforth ex< aminei and certified by the Provincial Auditor: before paid), the rules here laid down wiU be closely adhered to. ;• ;'
