The Anniversary op the Province. — Two days having been set apart by the Provincial Government in celebration of t the . anniversary of the Province, the j question naturally arises, — how are they to be spent ? Some have suggested a Ball, and the suggestion would be a good one were it not that this delightful description of festivity must, in the nature of things, partake of a class character ; whereas the idea to be realised upon such an occasion as the one to which we allude, is that of " rejoicing for the million." Something is wanted which will be open to all. Last year we had a Ball — a Tradesman's Ball, as it is termed, — Rural Sports, — and a Regatta. Of the two last we can speak, and we unhesitatingly pronounce them a great success. The sports were partly of that athletic character of which the respected Judge of the District spoke so enthusiastically on a late occasion, and partly of a kind to please the young. They attracted a large assemblage of men, women, and children in holiday attire — in fact, nearly the whole population — and the day appeared to be one of general and unmixed enjoyment. Steps have been taken to revive the Regatta, but not a word has yet been heard of as to the renewal of the Sports. Well, we confess that we should like a repetition of the merry scene of last anniversary. Military and Naval Settlers. — We call attention to the fact of this Act being now operative in this Province, and to the clauses extracted from it which appear in our advertising columns. Wesleyan Chapel. — We learn that this building is to be erected upon a piece of land bought for that purpose in the immediate vicinity of the hospital. It will be in a central position, and the objection on account of its being on ground so high, will, we understand, be obviated by the fact that a good approach to the hospital, from the Shakespeare road, (which will be available to the public) is about to be made by the Provincial Government.
