Cabltxe Stbeet.-W6 are glad to learn that the residents in this street have subscribed the sum of £50, required before the grant-in-aid of £150 towards making the street could be made available. We presume that this much required york will therefore be proceeded with without delay. The SchooE House. — This building, so exceedingly useful as a place of education, as well as of public wor&hip, and of public meetings, is, we are informed, to have the sum of £100 allotted towards its repair out of the amount voted for educational purposes by the Provincial Council. We know of no public expenditure of which there is more urgent necessity. TnE Inland Mail Service. — The messenger for Wairoa started for his various places of destination at the time announced. Not so, however, the contractor for Porangahau and -intuiMueditft*)stations, who had not, it is said, received sufficient notice, but who is expected to take the first mail on Monday next. Divine Service. — It will be perceived that service will be conducted in the morning of Sunday next by the Rev. W. St. Hill, and in the evening by the Rev. i. Barclay.
