AUCKLAND.
By the 'Overland Mail' we have Auckland papers to the 6th inst. H. M. ship 'Iris' had arrived in Auckland and \yas likely to remain for some weeks. Two Russian guns, shipped hy the home authorities, in compliment to the colony, had been landed from the 'Excelsior,' and conveyed to -Fort Britomart. ' -' The' propositions' of Mr. Coleman with respect to steam communication had been laid before the Chamber of Commerce, "but had not been cordially received. We learn from the, ' New Zealander' that Mr. Coleman proposes no provision whatever for the East Coast service, at present so satisfactorily performed by the 'White Swan,' although he peremptorily insists on the discontinuance of the employment of that steamer. The ship 'Evening Star' had arrived in Auckland from Moreton Bay, haying been for the conveyance of a cargo of ewes. The result, from boisterous weather, was most disastrous:— only, 60.0 sheep havng survived out of 2000, originally shipped.
