Osr Wednesday last, a large sale of horses was held by Mr. J. A. Smith in the yard attached to the Golden Fleece Hotel. The number offered consisted of 18 mares and 1 gelding, chiefly, unbroken. They sold at prices varying from £24 10a. to £42 10s., the average being £31 6s. The total amount realised was £594 10s. On the Earae occasion, Mr. Smith sold between 2 and 3 thousand feet of white pine (uative property) at 17s. r |j> 100 feet.
