. _A_x WeI'HNG-Ton, on Wednesday last, Messrs. Buncan & Veiraell sold 14 bales Rangatikei wool @ Is. 6&d., greasy, Is. and 9d. '• The 'Sydney Herald' Melbourne correspondent, m his letter dated 9th December says: —
" -.'The weekly wool sales commenced, as usual, this morning— Messrs. Groldsborough & Co. offered about 1350 bales, of-which, however, about 830 bales only -were sold ; there being but little disposition on the part of buyers to purchase scoured wools, the whole of which were brought in at full rate by the growers. Competition for fleece wools was well sustained, and any lots, in superior condition, fetched high rates. The quality of the wool offered was generally good, but the greater proportion more or less heavy ; the demand for greasy wools was rather easier, and although last week's prices were quite well sustained, there was no tendency to pay higher rates for this description. Greasy sold at from 10|d. to 10|d,, and washed from" 18d. to 21f d. A small lot (7 bales) coarse bringing 16$ d. '$ ft.
