NOTICE. A MEETING OF THE GRAZIERS IN -&- THE AHURIRI DISTRICT will be held at the Royal Hotel, Napier, on SATURDAY the 30th inst., at 11 o'clock, for the purpose of forming a GRAZIERS' SOCIETY. and, further, of taking into consideration various matters connected with the welfare of the paramount interest of this Province — such as the best means to be adopted for improving the breed of Stock of various kinds, — for increasing the capabilities of the Land occupied for Grazing purposes, — for encouraging the cultivation of the soil, — and, generally, to discuss such subjects affecting the wool-growing interest as may be brought before the meeting. It is to be distinctly understood that the objects of this meeting are entirely non-po-litical, and it is therefore earnestly hoped that no differences on political subjects may prevent the attendance of gentlemen supporting any party, who may be interested in Pastoral pursuits, who are hereby called upon to join cordially in the discussion of matters vitally affecting the prosperity of the Province of Wellington. Ist., January 1858. MAIL TO AHURIRI. Post Office, Wellington, December 24, 1857. SEALED TENDERS in duplicate will be received at this Office on or before the Ist February next from persons dasious of contracting for the conveyance of ar Fortnightly Overland Mail between Wellington and Napier for a period of twelve months. The Mail to leave Wellington every alternate Tuesday, at 12 o'clock (commencing the 16th of February), and to arrive at Napier on the succeeding Monday. The turn Mail to leave Napier also every alternate Tuesday at 12 o'clock .(commening on the 23rd February) and to arrive in Wellington on the following Monday. If the Contractor should find that he would not be able to commence the service as soon as specified as above, he must state when he would be in a position to do so. Further particulars may be ascertained on application to the Postmaster at Wellington or Napier. The Contractor will be required to provide security for the due performance of his agreement.
