PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN AHURIRI. 0 ATA MEETING of Presbyterians, and of others desirous of seeing increased -£j- means of religious observance within the District, held on Saturday the 9th inst., in the Royal Hotel — A. Alexander Esq., in the chair, — It was resolved, -with reference to the address of the Rev. David Bruce, published in the "Hawke's Bay Herald," that the steps taken by him towards obtaining for this District the services of a zealous minister, were such as to merit the entire approval of the meeting, and that subscription lists be immediately opened with the view of . caising a fund for the double purpose of maintaining a minister and of making the neressary arrangements for his residence and ministration. 1 The manner in which the building fund should be disposed of was left for future 1 decision, so that subscribers might, if they chose, have a voice in such decision ; but ' the general feeling was that the sphere of a minister's labours should be the entire District, and that therefore he should be provided with ample means of travelling ; — that, ' in the present thinly populated state of the District, the erection of a church in any [• particular locality would not be necessary, even if it could be afforded ; but that a residence, or manse, in Napier, to contain an apartment sufficiently large for occasional " service, should be erected as soon as possible on a site to be chosen for that purpose. o LIST OF DONATIONS AND ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS.
