Gentlemen, — The character of the Association — of that Association which has made Ahuriri well known amongst the neighbouring settlements and colonies, and which has been the cause of so much good — is at stake. Its very existence even is at stake, for if the candidates who support the views it has been the means of promulgating be not returned, — then it must be as certainly annihilated as, by a contrary result, it would be capable of renovation and enlarged powers of usefulness. But such anticipations need not be indulged in. The members of the Association, and the Electors generally, are, doubtless, — as they have ever been — prepared to maintain their acts, and unmistakably to assert their political rights.
