SUPPLEMENT TO THE THE HAWKE'S BAY HERALD. Napier, Saturday, Nov. 10, 1857. FROM WELLINGTON.
We have some scanty items of nevvs by the Clara. The "Southern Cross" had transhipped her Otago cargo, and, although under engagement for a trip to Auckland, would be in Hawke's Bay within the specified period. As our readers may suppose, the chief news is of a political character. The approaching elections for the Provincial Council were giving rise to much excitement and to increased agitation. The new movement has been styled that of "Radical Reform," and is evidently one of great vi•gor. Its leading men are Wakefield, Hunter, and Stokes — the hitherto moderate party having coalesced with those holding ultra views. With but one paper — the Spectator — before us it would, of course, be folly to say a word about the probable result. Dr. Featherston has been returned by a large majority — but what we cannot learn. The number of votes recorded in his favor v.iis 843.
