The brief stay I am making precludes me at present from addressing you at length, or even referring to subjects of the most vital importance to this district. In this hurried announcement I must throw myself on your kindness to excuse my stating fully my views on public affairs ; assuring you that if again honored with your confidence, it will be my study so to act as your Representative as shall protect your interests and promote your views, as far as it may be in my power. By first opportunity I shall do myself the honor of again addressing you more fully ; meantime I leave my election entirely in the hands of those who have requested me to come foiward, assuring you that whether I have the pleasure of acting as your Representative, or being merely connected with you by my private interests, I shall always remain, Your faithful Servant, R.
