LONE GUNMAN GETS £4BO

SCOTTISH BANK HOLD-UP CASHIER HURLS INKPOT EDINBURGH, Sept. 29. A dishevelled young man, a twodays’ growth of beard on his face, held up a branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland here to-day and, singlehanded, robbed it of £4BO. The raided bank is in the Roseburn district of the city, and at the time of the raid few people were about.

Just before the bank closed for the day a man walked into the building. He met the assistant teller, who was walking to the front door, and, whipping out a revolver, made him return behind the counter and stand by the teller. Keeping both men covered with the revolver, he commanded them to “give us all you’ve got.” The raider collected £4BO, most of which was in notes of small denomination, and then ho backed out of the bank and dashed across the road to a car and drove off. The assistant teller threw an inkstand through the bank window, and people dashed to help. The robber is described as of about 21 years of age, sft. Sin. or sft. Gin. in height, and a fresh complexion. He was wearing a brown suit, a yellowish shirt and a brownish cap. Most of the notes were new, and the numbers are known. This was the second daylight robbery in Edinburgh this week. On Thursday £4OOO worth of jewellery was taken from a porter’s harrow outside a hotel in. Prince’s Street.
