AIR CRASH VICTIM
MR. HAMISH ARMSTRONG
SEARCH PARTY SETS OUT HAMPERED BY WEATHER (By Telegraph—Press Association). HASTINGS, Nov. 6. A privately-organised search party has been out on the Ruahine Ranges looking for the body of Mr Hamisk Armstrong, the Akitio farmer whose aeroplane crashed while flying between Dannevirke and Hastings on August 4. A search party of three, comprising Messrs A. Peers, Henry Barlow, and Stanley Barlow, went up into the hills from the Wakarara end as soon as the weather began to* break last month. It was felt that successive showers of rain would melt the snow which covered the foothills and higher ranges. Given good visibility the searchers hoped to find the body of Mr Armstrong. Unfortunately for the party it re-' peatedly met with low-lying mists and frequent rains that blanketed the ranges. Although the snow was gradually dispersed the rain and fog limited the scope of the searchers, who for almost a fortnight after beginning their expedition were forced to remain at a rabbiter’s whare on the track. They started out again on Sunday, but heavy rain to-day has meant further delay. As soon as the rain lifts the party of three will be out again.
