Bible Class Festivities

Christmas Party at St. John’s Christmas festivities were in evidence at St. John’s Presbyterian Church Hall last night when the senior Young Women’s Bible Cla-ss entertained at a jolly party to mark the approach of tjie season of goodwill and incidentally to benefit class funds. A novel programme was presented and Father Christmas created an atmosphere of jollity when he distributed squeakers and masks with topical witticisms to many well-known identities in the audience. Paper hats were provided for all the patrons and the stage decorations included balloons and a greeting “Merry Christmas.” The items contributed included carols by the Bible Class girls, recitations by Miss Gladys Reynolds and Miss Mary Thomson; vocal duets by Misses Margaret Lamb and Mary Smith, and vocal solos by Mrs F. C. Bone. A one-act comedy “Under Distinguished Patronage,” was produced bv Mi ss .Jean Easton. There were many topical “hits” and the action of the play and the dialogue created endless amusement. A radio burlesque. “Children’s Hour.” produced by Miss D. Corrigan, proved an hilarious conclusion to the programme. Accompaniments for the vocalists were played by M iss Margaret Lamb and Mr L. J. Rowe. Mr Alistair Macßae was Father Christmas. In recognition of the service she had rendered to .St. John’s Girls’ Club, Miss Lorna Campbell was made the recipient of a presentation from the members by Mrs A. Thomson. Supper was served in bonbons by members of the class.
